In timpul unei interventii chirurgicale , Clay Beresford experimenteaza ceea ce medicii o numesc cunostienta anestezica . Desi este paralizat Clay poate vedea , auzi si simtii tot ce i se intampla. Astfel , barbatul isi da seama ca iubita lui si doctorii aflati in sala de operatie nu sunt asa cum ii credea acesta.
